COVID-19 UPDATE: 05.10.2022
English Lutheran aligns our COVID practices with guidance from the CDC and local health institutions.
In La Crosse County, community level is Medium (as of 5/5/22).
Please note the following when attending worship services and church activities:
We encourage a common sense and loving approach, reminding the congregation that anyone is welcome to continue to wear a face mask for their own protection if they prefer. There are a variety of levels of concern about COVID risk. It makes sense to ask someone sitting near you, “I see you are wearing a mask. Would it make you more comfortable if I wore one too? Or would you like us to move a few seats away?”
For those who continue to mask, choose a high quality mask such as a KN95 or N95 for the best protection. We continue to have masks available at the parking lot and King Street (by the sanctuary/office) entries.
As always, we continue to watch trends and will adjust course as needed. We would also like to remind everyone that the new CDC guidance does call for universal masking again in the future if case numbers and hospitalizations spike significantly. Hopefully that will not occur, and we will continue to enjoy a period of relatively low COVID risk this spring and summer.
Thank you once again for your ongoing patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic together. Please feel free to reach out to anyone on the team with questions or concerns.
In Christ,

- Talk with your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions.
- Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines/boosters. They are safe and effective at protecting against hospitalization.
- Get tested if you have symptoms. Stay home if anyone in your household tests positive.
Please note the following when attending worship services and church activities:
- Masks are still optional at this time. We do encourage use of masks, especially for those who are compromised or under age 5.
- Use social distancing as much as possible.
- We continue to use creative ways to share the peace without touch during worship.
- Anyone volunteering to serve communion, help in the kitchen, or work in the nursery should be masked.
