At English Lutheran, we believe Holy Communion is a gift offered by Christ to all his people. We practice an open table, which means all are welcome to receive the sacrament—you do not need to be a member of our congregation to commune. Wherever you are on your journey of faith, Christ invites you to his table.

Rather than fixing one set age, we believe readiness for first communion is best discerned through conversation among the pastor, the child, and their parents or sponsors. We encourage families to ask this question together, and we accompany each person's first communion with teaching suited to their age and understanding.

​We also gladly welcome children who already commune in another congregation, trusting that the Lord's invitation extends to all who come to the table. This means you may see communicants of many ages gathered here—a reflection of our shared conviction that communion is, first and foremost, Christ's gift to his people.
